Following on from the David Attenborough Planet Earth series which discussed the damage that plastic and rubbish does to wildlife on beaches and in the sea. We are organizing a beach walk with a view to collecting rubbish and doing our bit for the environment.
Scarborough council have agreed to provide litter picking sticks and rubbish sacks and will collect the rubbish when we have finished.
We will choose a beach nearer the time but thought it would be a good idea to get this in peoples diaries.
Scarborough council cover the beaches from Whitby down to Reighton Sands at Filey. So if anyone has any preferences for a beach along that part of the coast let me know and we can go with the majority. Ideally with somewhere where we can stop for lunch or a cuppa on the way back and where the dogs can have a good run - and likely to have some rubbish.
We will aim to meet around 10ish - exact time nearer the time when we know location and tide times. Pick some litter and have lunch.
If everyone can RSVP asap it would be appreciated so that I can give numbers to the council
