Sadly, most of us will have been affected by cancer in some way. Breast cancer in particular is the most common form in women, with around 54,900 new cases each year in the UK. However, survival rates have doubled over the last 40 years in the UK – and are continuing to improve.
Charities like Breast Cancer Now are partly to thank for that. They believe that “if we all act now, by 2050, everyone who develops breast cancer will live”.
Think Pink, a York group who raise funds for Breast Cancer Now are doing just that – acting now. And you too can act now, as they’re looking for volunteers to join them in their efforts. Their previous events include Zumba parties, stalls and tombolas, and a pink weekend over York’s nightlife – they even joined in the fun at the Tour de France!
If you want to join this fantastic group and help make a difference, contact Shân Potts at email@example.com for more information.
