Rowley & Sons Funeral Services

"We Listen, We Care, We Serve"

    Description

    About us

Rowley and Sons is a family run independent funeral service, owned and run by Martin and Elizabeth Rowley, based in Lawrence Street, York, and serving the whole of the City of York and the surrounding areas. We provide a friendly, caring and professional service for bereaved families. As a family-run business, we are pleased to be able to dedicate the time and effort that every funeral deserves.

Unlike some funeral directors, we are proud to be totally independent, meaning we can tailor our services exactly to your requirements, whatever they may be.Traditional Church service to completely non-religious, cremation, burial or green burial we are able to advise on all aspects of your loved one’s service and make all the necessary arrangements on your behalf. We offer a quality ‘one stop’ service, which means that all your funeral needs can be catered for without you having to visit many different providers.

We are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to provide help or advice when it is needed, without obligation.

Whenever you call, day or night, you will speak directly to a member of our family who will be happy to assist you.

    Costs

We honestly believe that as a small, family run, funeral service we are in the best position to offer families the very best possible service, but at the most competitive prices. As we do not have shareholders and we are not part of a larger group we simply do not need to charge the over inflated prices you are likely to find elsewhere.

The price of a funeral is made up of two parts. Firstly, the cost of the services provided by the Funeral Director and secondly, the disbursements. Disbursements are fees paid before the funeral on the family’s behalf. These include things like Cremation fee, Church fees and doctor’s fees. Please note, the disbursements are the same regardless of the funeral director and should always be charged “at cost”.

    Rowley & Sons fees

Rather than giving an itemised list of the many different costs involved, we prefer to quote one figure which includes everything we do for you in relation to the funeral. This includes everything from collecting your loved ones from the place where they die, right through to the hearse and staff who attend on the day of the funeral. This figure also includes a good quality oak veneered coffin and unlimited use of our Chapel of Rest (including evenings and weekends by arrangement) £1,525

    Cremation at Bishopthorpe Crematorium £875
Fees for 2 doctors to complete cremation forms £164
Religious Minister or officiant (including travel expenses) from £150

Therefore total cost of typical cremation funeral without limousines is £2,714

Limousine (to carry up to 7 mourners) £160
