Come and relax in this tranquil and historic walled garden in the bustling market town of Helmsley. Nestling below Helmsley Castle at the foot of the North York Moors this amazing garden has watched people come and go for over 250 years.
Left derelict in the 1980s it was brought back to life as a visitor attraction and a place of solace and healing for those in need. So now you can wander through the Kitchen Garden, sit in the orchard or stroll down the Hot Border and enjoy the colour and spectacle. Or talk to our dedicated staff and volunteers who help to develop and maintain the Garden.
Browse along the benches in our Plant Centre and find the perfect plant to take home for your garden. Check out the blacksmith crafted decorative garden supports in our shop or leave with the perfect vintage hand fork.
Or simply sit and enjoy a drink or a meal at The Vine House Café. With a seasonal menu and using produce from the Kitchen Garden, The Vine House Café serves delicious freshly prepared meals every day of the week.
You can do all this knowing you are making a difference. Helmsley Walled Garden provides horticultural therapy for vulnerable adults. We are able to do this because you visit. Every time you come to the Garden, buy a plant or go to The Vine House Café you are supporting us in this vital work. The more you come, the more we can do.
