Joseph Rowntree Theatre bags £10,000 refurbishment

The curtain’s up and the stage is most definitely set at the Joseph Rowntree Theatre

Getting to work!

Thanks to The Big Lottery Fund, our beloved volunteer-run theatre has already taken advantage of the £10,000 cash injection.

The beautiful Art Deco-style auditorium has always been a sight for sore eyes. However, the refurbishment has seen old, sealed-in, low-risk asbestos in the walls removed by specialists, followed by replastering and repainting.

The theatre is now ready for the new season of shows.

Dan Shrimpton, Chair of Trustees, says: “We’re working to a very tight schedule and we’re on time for re-opening. We’d saved up money for redecorating, but the extra removal work wouldn’t have been possible without the grant, for which we’re truly grateful.”
