Local presenter wins Yorkshire Gig Guide award

Local media personality, Ryan Swain, won ‘Outstanding Individual’ at the Yorkshire Gig Guide awards on Sunday 7th October. The award was recognition for his performances at shows and festivals throughout Yorkshire this year.

The ‘raucous, fun and exciting evening’  was at The Imperial Club in Mexborough.

The DJ and presenter, Ryan was in good company with other local winners including the Fulford Arms, York who placed third in the category ‘Outstanding Small Live Venue’ and Pocklington Arts Centre who won ‘Outstanding Large Live Venue’.

Ryan said:  “The Yorkshire Gig Guide work very hard to celebrate and promote live music and culture in the region and it is a honour to be a part of their awards. WELL DONE to all the other nominees and winners and of course all of the people who make this happen.”

“I was absolutely flabbergasted to have even been acknowledged for an award let alone win one. It means so much to have even of been considered worth of this accolade. Thank you to everyone who voted for me and who has supported me over the years. I’ve come from an ordinary working class background in Norton and I’m proud of that. Thanks to all my family and fiancee Natalia for all of their support and love too along the way and a big thank you to all of my fans, without an audience I wouldn’t have a show, so thank you.”

Ryan Swain is a versatile television and radio presenter, stand-up comedian, DJ and host within the entertainment industry.

The Yorkshire Gig Guide is a not for profit organisation that creates an online magazine, offers free resources for musicians and puts on events to celebrate and support grass roots music venues.
