Applefields school celebrated the end of term in style with a red carpet Leaver’s Ball, organised by Zoe Smith.
Nearly 50 students from the secondary school for children with special educational needs danced the night away to music from DJ, Jason Roughton, who was accepting requests, with a buffet to fuel the fun.
Organiser Zoe Scott said: “The night was a huge success. All the pupils loved it and had a fab time. It's so lovely to see them all dressed up and having fun just like kids their age should be.”
Students arrive for the Leaver's Ball.
Many of the students, who ranged from years 11 -14 will be going on to study at York College, Henshaws College and post 16 learning at Applefields.
Applefields School is the main provider in York for secondary age children with special educational needs. There are around 140 students with a range of learning difficulties, from moderate to profound, and a number of children with autism.
Students return to school on 6th September 2017.
