This November York goes Kaboom!

A new annual event to mark the Guy Fawkes Night at Rawcliffe Country Park.

Kaboom will explode on 4th November - the night Guy Fawkes was discovered in the cellar below the Houses of Parliament. It promises to be an awesome pyrotechnic display by Jitu Desai - one of the world's best pyro-technicians. The fully choreographed fireworks, lighting and special effects will be synchronised to a specially commissioned music track, which will run for over 20 minutes.

Kaboom will host a huge traditional funfair featuring rides and attractions to suit all the family. There will also be food stalls offering baked potatoes, soup, toffee apples, cinder toffee, hot chocolate and other traditional bonfire night treats.

The fireworks will be launched at approximately 7.30pm so that younger families can enjoy the show before having to get ready for school the next morning. For the older ones, the entertainment on the main stage will continue after the fireworks.

Gillian Cruddas, Chief Executive of Visit York, said, "Bonfire night is celebrated across Britain and is a key part of our rich heritage. We celebrate the failure of the Gunpowder Plot across the UK and we're delighted that York is now taking up the gauntlet to mark this momentous time in our history."
